About Mentwire
-
What is Mentwire?
A new social network that rewards careful thinking, intellectual discourse, and thoughtful conversations.
-
How is Mentwire different?
Unlike traditional social media, Mentwire rewards reasoning: you pass an evaluation, earn a dynamic reasoning score, and see posts by what careful and credible readers find valuable. Mentwire is invite-only and inviting someone is a personal endorsement; your reputation is linked to theirs.
-
Is this a place for everyone?
Probably not. It's built for people who change their minds when shown better evidence. It's meant for people who prefer refuting the central point rather than ad hominem attacks and name-calling.
-
Are bots and AI allowed on Mentwire?
Mentwire is a human-only network with zero tolerance for bots and automated engagement. We verify authenticity through tools such as Face ID, pangram checks, keystroke patterns, repetitive phrasing detection, suspicious reply patterns, and engagement clustering. Avoid using AI to generate your posts. We want to hear your authentic voice.
Membership & Invitations
-
How can I join Mentwire?
Mentwire is invite-only. Everyone takes an evaluation test.
-
What's in the evaluation?
You'll evaluate social media posts, short articles, claims, and data visualisations drawn from the real world. It's a preview of how conversations work inside Mentwire. Try a sample question.
-
Is there a membership fee?
Mentwire is free to join. We may introduce premium features in the future.
-
Why is Mentwire invitation-only?
To avoid the Eternal September phenomenon and to preserve the quality of discourse.
Features
-
What makes Mentwire's feed "smart"?
Posts rise when other smart readers find them thoughtful. Periodic challenges blend into the feed to keep reasoning scores accurate. A daily spot check also asks you to evaluate a post before you dive in.
-
Does Mentwire have a place for thought-provoking articles and links?
The Front Page surfaces the most thoughtful links and articles shared by members, ranked by community votes and recency. Mentwire does not suppress external links like other social media.
-
Will my score be public?
No, your score will not be public. A small badge "blue check" will be made public to signal credibility based on reasoning scores.
-
Can I remain anonymous on Mentwire?
Anonymous participation is not allowed. All users are subject to verification at any time to ensure platform integrity.
-
Can I edit my previous posts on Mentwire?
Yes, for a short time after posting, you can edit or delete your posts. If you edit a post, the original version will still be visible. You can't repost something just like it right after deleting.
-
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can delete your account. Posts you made may stay so that replies to them still make sense.
Community Guidelines
-
Post intellectually stimulating content
That includes science, technology, economics, history, philosophy, culture, policy analysis, and more. If it rewards careful reading and thinking, it belongs here. Off-topic: gossip, crime, celebrity drama, outrage bait, or anything that be headlines on TV news. No political discourse unless it involves markets or economics.
-
Be kind
Argue the idea; do not attack the person. Don't be snarky. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face in a professional or academic setting, don't post it here.
-
Think independently
Evaluate the logical argument rather than seeking things that prove your existing belief. You'll find some posts you agree with, some that you don't, but all of which should be judged and debated on their merits.
-
Don't game the system
Don't solicit votes or coordinate engagement. Members should vote when they genuinely find something thoughtful. Credit the original author and never post someone else's content as your own, whether from Mentwire or elsewhere. Avoid using AI to generate your posts. We want to hear your authentic voice. We penalize accounts and content that break this rule.
-
One identity per person
Throwaway and duplicate accounts are not permitted. Members are subject to verification at any time to ensure platform integrity. Face ID is required for posting and replying.
-
One-strike warning, two-strike suspension, three-strike ban policy
First offense gets a warning, a second one results in suspension, and a third leads to a permanent ban. Name-calling, personal attacks, threats, and abusive behavior are taken seriously. Think of this as a professional or academic environment.
